Abstract: |
Archaeological excavations were undertaken within an area of land that was known to lie in close proximity to Romano-British settlement activity and close to the Loose oppidum, a particularly interesting site as it was the focal point of the Upper Medway valley. The intensity of coin findspots previously revealed from early Gallo-Belgic onwards, put it on a level with Rochester. Two ditches were revealed which were interpreted as being part of the linear earthwork of the oppidum extending east, and was therefore part of the defensive outworks. [Au(adp)] |
