Abstract: |
A second phase of excavation was undertaken in advance of connection of water services to the north porch residence (No 22) of Siddington Tithe Barn. Hand-excavation around the foundations of the internal and external walls revealed that the walls were constructed of dressed unbonded limestone blocks. A limestone flagged surface, possibly representing a path, and an associated mortar spread and clay surface formed the earliest of a sequence of surface and levelling deposits revealed within the barn.
