Abstract:
A desk-based assessment identified that the site lay within an area of archaeological potential, but the potential for all periods was thought to be low. There was certainly no evidence to suggest a settlement or activity site in the immediate vicinity of the site. Despite an Anglo-Saxon inhumation cemetery, known from Merrow, but this appeared to have been confined to the high ground of Merrow Downs, above the 80m contour, to the south of the study site. Previous land use was unlikely to have had a significant archaeological impact. [Au(adp)]
