Abstract: |
An area 11.5m by a maximum of 3.75m was excavated across the site and a watching brief undertaken during the groundworks associated with the development of the site. Although the site produced features of an early date, the main interest concerned cellars of the 16th century. These, with subsequent alterations, were probably the earliest evidence for structural development in this part of the High Street. In addition, an interesting collectionof finds material, of medieval and Tudor date, was made. [Au(adp)] |
