Abstract: |
At the western, street frontage, side of the site a gully of probable post-medieval date was revealed, together with undated post holes and a pit. Both the gully and pit contained iron smithing residues, indicating industrial activity on the site. Moreover, this evidence suggested that the two features were contemporary and that the pit, although undated, was also possibly post-medieval. No archaeological remains were encountered on the east, rear part, of the site, though there was evidence of probable 20th century domestic refuse dumping in that area. [Au] |
