Abstract: |
The watching brief revealed successive layers of debris, demolition and brick building foundations overlying a ditch of probable 17th century date. The ditch was cut into a gravel terrace sloping down to the south towards the site of the recently excavated King's Mill. The watching brief also exposed a 19th century furnace and coke bunker which may have been associated with the brass foundry which once stood on the site. [Au] |
