Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at the proposed site of a sports centre, which was crossed by the projected route of a Roman road. Medieval finds had been recorded in the surrounding area. During the evaluation, a Roman or medieval pit or ditch was revealed. Features relating to horticultural activity were revealed; these contained 17th-18th century pottery. The surface of a road, used between the late 19th century and the 1960s, was noted. It was concluded that significant archaeological remains were unlikely to survive at the site. [AIP] |
