Abstract: |
Desk-based study and a walk-over survey was undertaken on the Orange, Adopted and Combined Routes for the bypass. The Adopted and Combined Routes had no impact on any known archaeology, but the Orange route ran through an area of well-preserved 17th century ironworking, containing a fine series of iron/marl pits, pond bays and presumed furnace site. Historic landscape features affected included field boundaries, hedges, sunken lanes and woodland. [AIP] |
