Abstract: |
A survey of part of the Chalon Way car park in St. Helens was undertaken using non-destructive methods. These identified the existence of a former iron foundry on the site. The St. Helens Iron Foundry was in continuous production from 1798 until its decline and eventual demolition in 1939. The geophysical survey detected widespread structural remains below the surface.
