Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken in advance of a proposed redevelopment. Available evidence indicated that the study site had a moderate archaeological potential for the Iron Age, a good potential for the Roman and post-medieval periods and a low or low to moderate archaeological potential for all other periods of human activity. Late medieval burials found just east of the study site in Brenchley Park were not thought likely to have extended into the study site itself. Alluvial deposits of prehistoric age could also have been present within the west part of the site. It was considered unlikely that any archaeological remains within the site would have survived the redevelopment process and a programme of field evaluation was recommended. [Au(abr)] |
