Abstract: |
A watching brief was maintained during sewer refurbishment works in an area of land that lay to the south-west of the River Ouse and before the Roman occupation was probably open pasture. After the Roman occupation the Legionary Fortress was built and a civilian settlement or Colonia was set up. The Colonia probably had a defensive wall and Bishopgate Street lay almost immediately to the south of this area. Despite the archaeological potential of the site, nothing was found. [AIP] |
