Abstract: |
An archaeological geophysical survey was carried out over an area of 4 hectares in advance of proposed new facilities at a school. A network of linear and rectilinear ditches were recorded immediately west of Tranby Ride, almost certainly representing croft divisions of medieval Tranby village. Patterns of ditches detected further west in the proposal area possibly indicated prehistoric or Romano-British enclosures and trackways, and a number of these features may have continued beyond the area investigated.
