Abstract: |
An environmental report compiled by Ove Arup & Partners prior to the construction of a multi-storey car park contained an archaeological element. No formal Environmental Statement was prepared as the Planning Authority did not consider one necessary. The desk-based study of the archaeology determined that, whilst the site lay in the Area of Archaeological Significance there was no record of any archaeological features in the SMR. It was considered possible that tipping in the 1950s had already damaged the sub-surface archaeology. The potential for archaeology on the site was not, however, precluded and a watching brief was recommended. [Au(adp)] |
