Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment of the prospective sites of two borrow pits identified that no archaeological sites had been recorded within the Hyde Farm area. The Charley's Farm site lay partly within Hedgerley Park, which may have been attached to the early 19th century Hedgerley Park House. Possible features had been recorded on an aerial photograph of the site. In the surrounding area, kiln sites of Roman and later date had been recorded, and prehistoric flint scatters were known. It was concluded that further assessment would probably be necessary; the Hyde Farm site was considered to have a low archaeological potential, whilst Charley's Farm was considered to have a high potential.
