Abstract: |
<summary>Two evaluation trenches excavated in advance of a housing development adjacent to known earthworks revealed banks comprising a series of dumps over a former ground surface. A central depression was shown to consist of {italon}circa{italoff} 1.75 metres of modern building material overlying a sequence of stratified deposits up to a metre in depth. The enclosure was interpreted as the remains of an ornamental pond, probably associated with the present manor house dating to the 17th or 18th century. {italon}AIP{italoff}{spacea} |
