Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at the proposed site of an extension to a school. During construction of the school in the mid to late 1970s, the remains of a 4th century settlement had been revealed. Buildings, pits, ditches, kilns, metalworking debris and possible water holes were recorded. During the evaluation, fragments of Roman tile and two sherds of Roman pottery were recovered, and a number of small undated post holes were observed. A large part of the evaluation area appeared to have been disturbed in the recent past. [AIP] |
