Abstract: |
Geophysical surveys were carried out within five sample areas on land east and west of Brickyard Lane, south of the A63 and Melton village. An initial scan over the proposal area found extremely weak geomagnetic anomalies across the study area. Most anomalies only became visible after a more detailed survey. A low density of ferrous and brick litter was encountered. Networks of linear anomalies and distinctive patterning were identified. These were tentatively interpreted as representing traces of ditched trackways and associated field systems. Land drains and possible pits were also identified. [AIP] |
