Abstract:		 An archaeological evaluation on the site of the Eastern Counties Bus Depot in Prior's Lane revealed a high density of archaeological features. These ranged from possible Middle or Late Saxon pits, predating the castle which lay immediately adjacent to the site, to medieval pits and ditches probably contemporary with the castle occupation, and a late medieval/early post-medieval wall built from limestone blocks, perhaps scavenged from a religious building immediately after the dissolution.
