Abstract: |
The evaluation identified the presence of natural sand and gravel deposits overlain by brick-earth into which had been cut medieval field system ditches. Overlying these were early post-medieval garden and agricultural soils which were being reworked into the late post-medieval period. A number of brick structures were recorded, the earliest of these being a malt house which appeared on 18th century maps. The malt house was extended during the 19th century, and other new buildings were constructed across the majority of the site. [Au(abr)] |
