Abstract: |
The assessment site was located within an Archaeological Priority Zone as defined in the boroughs Unitary Development Plan. The assessment identified that the site had a low to moderate archaeological potential. The greatest potential was for remains of medieval date. A medieval Abbey had been founded at Brockley by the Premonstratensian order of monks. The Abbey lay to the north of the development site, but there was a possibility that traces of monastic construction and/or agricultural activity may have survived within the development area.
