Abstract:
An evaluation was carried out at a proposed development site which lay within the precinct of a mid-13th century Augustinian Friary. Parts of the friary had been excavated on an adjacent site. During the evaluation, test-pits were excavated and horizontal boreholes were drilled through two of the sub-basement walls. Large chalk foundations were revealed which were probably part of the friary. Further evaluation and a watching brief were recommended. [AIP]
