Abstract: |
16 trial trenches were excavated across the site of a proposed sports complex on land at Cheapside farm. Previous fieldwalking in the area had recovered both struck and burnt flints, indicating possible prehistoric activity across the site. The site was consequently identified as being of reasonable archaeological potential. However, in the event, only three of the sixteen excavated trenches contained archaological features in the form of small pits. Two contained very small quantities of ceramic building material likely to be post-medieval or later in date and the smallest contained no dating evidence whatsoever. [Au(adp)] |
