Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation, consisting of the excavation of 20 trial trenches, of the site prior to the proposed residential redevelopment of the site revealed medieval occupation on the street frontage with backlands activity becoming less dense further from Ock Street. A Saxon ditch was revealed in the centre of the site and a few sherds of Iron Age and Roman pottery and probable prehistoric struck flint. Post-medieval deposits, features, structures and possible tanning waste. [Au(adp)] |
