Abstract: |
Observations were carried out following the insertion of concrete and the lower courses of a wall into a foundation trench. The wall represented the eastern boundary of a churchyard, and passed within 2m of a 13th century church. The remains of two medieval crosses lay in the churchyard, whilst ditched features and an area of ridge and furrow had been recorded nearby. Three fragments of human bone, a sherd of late medieval pottery and post-medieval artefacts were recovered from excavated spoil, but no archaeological features were observed within the trench.
