Abstract: |
An environmental report was undertaken to accompany the planning application for the proposed repowering of the Great Eppleton Wind Farm. The wind farm had been operating since 1997 and comprised four 750 kilowatts and two bladed Windmaster 750 turbines. The total generating capacity was 3 megawatts. Repowering involved the replacement of the existing ageing turbines with modern more efficient turbines. There did not appear to be any archaeological remains/features on site which were not previously identified, however, field boundaries on the site could have potentially been included under the hedgerow regulations, as they may have dated to before 1850 and matched those on the tithe map of 1838 and subsequent OS maps.
