Abstract: |
A desk-top assessment of a proposed development site was undertaken. Boreholes on and around the site had revealed the presence of alluvial deposits. Palaeolithic animal remains, flint tools and evidence of neolithic activity had been recorded in the surrounding area, and part of a bronze age trackway had been excavated. Roman artefacts had been found nearby. An 11th century canal may have passed through the vicinity. It was concluded that the site had archaeological potential in areas not destroyed by the construction of Quebec Dock in the 1920s. [AIP] |
