Abstract: |
The evaluation only identified later post-medieval and modern deposits, and no stratified deposits of an earlier date were encountered. Nevertheless, given that the original ground profile appeared to have sloped down from east to west, and the presence of an apparently intact deposit sequence at the front of a building, it was possible that deposits of potential archaeological interest could be encountered at some intermediate point between the two excavated trenches.
