Abstract: |
A watching brief found the earliest remains included two Tudor walls. One of these was orientated in the same direction as the Tudor mansion and was associated with a brick floor surface with a drain between the wall and the surface. Make-up deposits of re-deposited natural clay containing fragments of brick in this trench appear to relate to the build up and levelling of the ground prior to the creation of this later 17th century farmyard. An infilled ditch was found in front of the stable block. Another infilled ditch contained mid 19th to early 20th century finds. [Au(abr)] |
