Abstract: |
The majority of excavations were conducted through natural subsoils and ground disturbed in modern times, and the impact upon the archaeological resource was minimal. Peat deposits were identified across the neck of the Headland, although these were in a poor state of preservation. The loacation of the medieval town wall where it crossed Durham Street was confirmed. Evidence for the cultivation of part of the Headland during the medieval period was also retrieved. [Au] |
