Abstract: |
The evaluation was carried out on an apparently moated site in Blofield. Being the only such site known in the parish it was considered to be the site of the medieval bishop's residence outside Norwich. A single trench was dug within the interior of the site with the intention of confirming the existence, extent, survival and potential of any archaeological remains, in particular, those relating to medieval activity. In the excavated trench, no archaeological features were recorded nor were any finds recovered, suggesting that some truncation or levelling of the site had taken place. [Au] |
