Abstract: |
The evaluation revealed three linear deposits of loose carboniferous limestone each of which was set within a trench some 400mm deep. Sample excavation revealed that the features were of simple construction and probably built in a single phase and in a rectilinear pattern to improve the local land drainage. No stratified dating evidence was recovered from any of these stone features although their stratigraphic position, sealed by topsoil alone, indicated a post-medieval origin. The report concluded that the site had a very low archaeological potential and that no important archaeological remains were likely to be destroyed as a consequence of any future development.
