Abstract: |
A watching brief was advised over the laying of a water main as there was the potential that the scheme would bisect the site of the former medieval market-place and associated frontages. Modern road-surfacing had clearly truncated any earlier deposits which might have existed above the natural Limestone. Four pits were discovered, two of which contained Iron Age pottery, and it was considered possible, that other deeply cut features were present in the vicinity. [AIP] |
