Abstract: |
A desk based assessment of the proposed site of a motorway service area identified that the probable routes of two Roman roads passed nearby, and that a prehistoric flint flake and an axe head had been found in the vicinity. Medieval sites in the area included three manors and a fishpond or moat, whilst a brick kiln had been recorded to the north west. It was concluded that the site had a low archaeological potential. An intensive walkover survey prior to construction works was recommended. [AIP] |
