Abstract: |
One hundred and fifty-two archaeological sites were identified within the study corridor. Of these, thirty-three were located in the path of the proposed pipeline, and there was an uncertain impact on another eight. The majority of the sites consisted of extant structures, documentary and archaeological evidence of medieval settlements, land-use and land division, and earthwork remains of post-medieval infrastructure. One Mesolithic flint scatter was recorded in the study corridor. There were no other definite prehistoric sites. A former road provided the only evidence of Roman activity, and no Saxon remains were recorded. [Au(abr)] |
