Abstract: |
The assessment identified that numerous finds of prehistoric and Romano-British material c.900 metres to the west of the study had been made. The potential for the Roman period was described as low on the existing evidence. There was evidence of settlement of this period on land some 400 metres to the west from two excavations and there may have been evidence of Roman agrarian activities on site but the likelihood was not great. The area was known to have been heavily wooded in historical times and parts of the site had only been cleared in recent times. [Au(adp)] |
