Abstract: |
An evaluation by trenching was undertaken on land proposed for development off Winthorpe Road. Desk-top assessment had identified that the cropmark of a large sub-rectangular enclosure, measuring about 70m x 30m, which was identified as a possible Neolithic mortuary enclosure, was located to the western edge of the development area. The excavation showed that the cropmarks had been formed by shallow ditches, although no dating evidence was recovered. No evidence for palaeoenvironmental remains was found. [AIP] |
