Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment was compiled in advance of a proposed wind farm of approximately 30 wind turbines together with an 11km long feeder cable extending to the northwest. The assessment concluded that the survey area has a very high potential for providing palaeoenvironmental data of international importance. It also has a moderate to high potential for containing archaeological deposits of prehistoric and later date. A number of former and existing sites of archaeological/historical importance were identified and highlighted. Clearly, any conclusions can only be tested by the application of fieldwork techniques.
