Abstract: |
A large sandstone slab found within a garden 300m from the keep of Stafford Castle was investigated. It was found that one edge of the slab had been neatly dressed, whilst the other was fractured. Grooves were noted in its surface. It was concluded that the stone was likely to be covering a cavity, perhaps a well, and that it probably predated the 19th century. [Au(abr)] |
