Abstract: |
Three trenches, totalling 18 metres in length, were excavated to the natural gravels. Archaeological deposits suggested that the area lay within a post-medieval quarry for aggregates. The Roman defences in the areas were demonstrably to the north of the site. Significantly, this clearly showed a turn to the north of the defences and the line of the eastern defences could also be traced. [Au(abr)] |
