Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the excavation of trenches, in connection with the conversion of redundant farm buildings to form dwellings. The site was surrounded by a complex of earthworks, defining the deserted medieval settlement of Chadshunt, whilst ridge and furrow covered many of the fields in the area. During the watching brief, no archaeological deposits or artefacts were observed. It was concluded that any existing medieval deposits may have been truncated by the construction of barns, which had probably been accompanied by landscaping work. [Au(adp)] |
