Abstract: |
The desk-based assessment established that the study site had a low to nil potential for prehistoric, Roman, Saxon/early medieval and medieval activity. Cartographic evidence and historic evidence indicated that the study site was part of the 19th century development of the Spa Town. However, the construction of Eagle Tower would have disturbed any archaeological deposits that previously survived on the site. The site was located in a Conservation Area and there were a number of Listed Buildings that lay near to the study site. The study concluded that on existing evidence the archaeological potential of the study site was not sufficient to constrain development. [Au(abr)] |
