Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment identified that a number of prehistoric finds had been made in the close vicinity of the development area. Archaeological monitoring showed that the street frontage had been levelled to the depth of natural geological deposits. This levelling was likely to have removed any medieval or post-medieval archaeological deposits from this area. Two gullies were cut into the natural geology. There were undated but filled with topsoil and therefore probably modern in origin. There contained some coal and iron slag fragments. No archaeological deposits were identified across the remainder of the site. [Au(abr)] |
