Abstract: |
An excavation was undertaken ahead of the extension of a building stone quarry. It followed an evaluation which indicated that the area of the proposed quarry extension contained features dated to the Middle Iron Age, as well as post-medieval quarrying. Four post holes containing prehistoric pottery were excavated, it was suggested that these features formed an outlying structure associated with the suggested Iron Age activity to the west, possibly a raised granary. A gully in the northern part of the site was of uncertain date. Large pits in the southern part of the site were almost certainly associated with small scale medieval or post-medieval quarrying.
