Abstract: |
One trench was sited over the location of the steel cementation furnace. This showed that although brick structures lay almost directly beneath the concrete ground surface, it would seem likely that when the furnace was removed in the second half of the 19th century that ground levels were reduced prior to the construction of new buildings.
