Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the groundworks phase of construction of two dwellings as the site lay in the core of the medieval village of Scredington. Five moated sites were known within the vicinity, with ridge and furrow recorded immediately adjacent to the development. Three phases of activity were identified; natural geological deposits, two undated ditches and a pit and modern deposits. A quantity of material of 18th to 20th century date was recovered along with pottery of 14th to 15th century date from residual contexts. [Au(abr)] |
