Abstract: |
The watching brief was undertaken on the underpinning of the existing basement walls and relaying of the basement floor of the site. The watching brief revealed three Saxon rubbish pits, surviving in the western area of the basement. These were cutting the natural brickearth and gravel, but had been truncated by Georgian and Victorian deposits and structures associated with the construction and subsequent modernising of the original building.
