Abstract: |
A desk-based study supported by preliminary field survey was undertaken for the Foundry Square site, proposed for a housing development. Surviving buildings identified included the boring mill; engine house and boiler house; the late 18th- early 19th century foundry barn; the main stable block; an L-shaped stable block; a cart shed; and a cobbled yard. The rubble remains of the demolished 19th century fitting shop were also identified. [AIP] |
