Abstract: |
The investigation revealed deposits which indicated the widespread flooding of the area, possibly in the 6th century AD. These flood deposits were then utilised during the medieval period, indicated by several pits, ditches, a gully and a hearth. By the post-medieval period the area was under an agricultural regime and several brick-lined wells were constructed in the area. Finds included locally made pottery and a single sherd of imported pottery from northern France. [Au] |
