Abstract: |
Trial excavation ahead of building development was undertaken at the site of the former RAF Medmenham. A total of 34 trial trenches were dug throughout the area of the site. Despite extensive disturbance from 20th century buildings and services, the excavations identified truncated structural remains belonging to Danesfield House, a country mansion demolished c. 1901, as well as those of a contemporary icehouse. Scattered pits and ditches of probable Iron Age date were also revealed. [Au(adp)] |
