| Abstract: |
The survey has recorded the position of an old field boundary and within it several plots of land were defined by areas of increased magnetic response. Anomalies of archaeological interest have been noted adjacent to the track and although some of these may represent occupation associated with the potentially medieval plots, it should be noted two buildings marked on the 19th century map may have contributed to the responses in those areas. Ponds also noted on this map have been identified in the data. However, the coherent responses elicited from these features suggest they may represent kilns, furnaces or other activities associated with iron-ore processing; excavation would be required to confirm the precise cause of these anomalies.
